Janice Noga, Janka, The Janka Project
Janka is the compelling account of Janka (pronounced yank-ka)Festinger, from Sighet, Romania, who survived the Nazi Holocaust, fell in love and married an American soldier, and immigrated to the United States to live the American Dream. At 75, she finally shares her story. Written by playwright Oscar Speace the play stars Janice Noga (Oscar’s wife). Inspired by a 60-page letter Oscar’s mom wrote after she was freed from the Nazi concentration camps, this show recounts Janka’s liberation and time spent in the concentration camps. The play, which has been performed around the world, is a testament to the human spirit and the will to survive.
