Restorative Practices: Application in Child Welfare and the Community
Saturday, October 27, 10:30am - Noon
Joanne Pritchard, M.A., Supervisory Leadership Specialist, Central California Training Academy
During this workshop, participants will:
- Learn basic concepts related to Restorative Practices
- Understand how Restorative Practices support healing in response to harm/trauma within the community, including families involved in the child welfare system
- Learn about Restorative Practice resources
The workshop will consist of lecture, resources, and brief group activities to facilitate learning related to Restorative Practices.
Participants will leave with the guiding premise that “people are happier, more cooperative, more productive, and more likely to make positive changes when those in authority do things with them, rather than to them or for them.” They will endorse proactively developing community, managing conflict, building relationships, and increasing social capital as a way to promote peace.
